I have a Lenovo laptop running Windows 7. I had to reinstall Windows a while ago and now I’m unable to find the PCI Simple Communication Controller. Under device manager, it shows an error and when I try to update the driver the process failed. Help me!
I had the same problem, downloading and installing the Intel AMT driver fixed it for me. Get it from here.
Install the Intel IMT Driver for Windows and see. Get the driver from Lenovo support site.
Get Intel Management Engine Interface 7.1 and Serial Over LAN (SOL) Driver for Windows. Install it on your PC and see. I guess the issue would be resolved.
Go to the
Lenovo ThinkVantage Technologies
web page, and download and install an application called “Lenovo Update”.
You will see it in the upper left corner of that web page.
After you install it, run the application.
It will go to the Lenovo website and automatically fetch any missing drivers, as well as automatically fetching any updates that might be available for your computer.
It is a very neat little application that works very well.
It is intended for use with all of the different types of Lenovo computers.
It’s either the SOL (Serial over LAN) or the ME (Management Engine) for the vPro, either way, you will need both sets of drivers. I’ve been using the Vista ones and they seem to install and work fine.
I had the same issue with my notebook running Windows 8.1 then when I got the Intel Management Engine Interface from Lenovo and installed it, the issue was gone!
I have the same problem with my laptop (ThinkPad R50e) and the issue was resolved when I performed the following steps to resolve
F1 –> Config –> Network –> Disable –> F10
then repeat the same steps but enable network
F1 –> Config –> Network –> Enable –> F10
Try this and do let me know if that works for you.
I would make sure that the BIOS is up to date. If the BIOS is not up to date, the motherboard may not be fully recognizing when a card is present in the port. So definitely make sure the BIOS is up to date and see if that helps the issue.
Found a possible solution to this issue right on Lenovo’s website. There is a little guide that might help you.
Download and install Downloads for Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility. Run it and see if that error is gone!
I installed Intel Collaborative Processor Performance Control (CPPC) on my ThinkPad Helix and the error disappeared. Give it a try.
